$7,000 Goal

Fauna Sanctuary provides sanctuary for chimpanzees outside of Montreal in Canada. Some of our residents including Sue Ellen, are retired from invasive biomedical research. Two, Tatu and Loulis, use sign language and tell us what it’s like to be a chimpanzee.

Our residents are elderly and many have health concerns that require special treatments. Binky needs a daily injection of insulin and regular monitoring of blood glucose levels to control his diabetes. Sue Ellen has mobility challenges and requires special adaptations to her enclosures such as ropes, bars, ramps, and smooth flooring.

Maya takes a daily nebulizer with saline and essential oils to keep her sinuses clear. These are all success stories! Binky has learned to cooperate for injections and enjoys the attention from caregivers. Sue Ellen becomes stronger and has learned to climb after several years of adaptations. Maya’s nasal discharge is completely gone.

This year our goal is to raise $7,000 to cover medical supplies.

Fauna Sanctuary is the U.S. nonprofit that provides financial support to Fauna Foundation in Montreal, Canada, the organization providing direct care to chimpanzees.
